Premiere Pro caption presets

Premiere Pro has two things people mean by "caption preset": the creation preset in the Create captions dialog (line length, lines, format) and the Track Style that controls how captions look. Save both once and captioning a new video takes two clicks.

Creation presets

In the Create captions dialog, set your format, max characters per line and number of lines, then use the preset menu at the top to save them. Next time, pick the preset and the settings load. A short-form preset with Subtitle, 18 characters and a single line is the one most people want.

Track Styles

Style a caption in Properties, then choose Create Style from the Track Style menu. Save to Project for that edit or Save to Local styles to reuse the style through the style browser in future projects.

Sharing presets between machines

A template project with your saved Track Styles is one way to carry a consistent setup between edits or computers. Check the style import and export options available in your installed Premiere version before moving locally saved styles.

Animated caption presets

Native presets are static styles. The animated looks you see on social (highlighted word, bounce, pill background) aren't something Premiere's caption track can store. Those presets come from plugins that generate caption graphics, where a preset includes the animation as well as the font and colors.
